Breastfeeding

Mine and Marley's breastfeeding days are almost over, and I'm both relieved and sort of sad (but definitely not sad enough to continue doing it.. I'm a strictly one year breastfeeding mom) I am going to breastfeed her until she is about 10 and a half months, and at that point I will start the not-offering-not-refusing approach. Breastfeeding has been great! After the 2 weeks of pain and agony and wanting to quit, I realized how amazing it is. I could not imagine still having to get up in the middle of a night to warm up a bottle (which Bobby and I had to do in the first week she was home because she refused to nurse). It's much easier to be woke up my Marley rooting around, undress a little bit, let her latch on, and just lay back down until she's all done. Doesn't that sound so much better than getting up and doing something in the middle of the night? I guess I would have to do a little more if I didn't share my bed with Marley, but I would guess that waking up and nursing her would be easier than waking up and fixing a bottle. I'm not bashing mommy's who don't breastfeed! I'm just simply expressing my feelings on how awesome breastfeeding is. I grew a 20 pound 15 ounce+ baby with something that my body made all on it's own! So now, with only 3 and a half months left of breastfeeding, and however long it takes her to wean, I am going to miss it. It's going to be hell getting Marley to stop nursing in the middle of the night and fall asleep on her own, that will definitely be the hardest part of all. So anyone who is reading this and is about to be a mommy, new or experienced, (ahem, Kristina, who is about to be a new mommy of the biggest baby of all time :) you will have the best experience breastfeeding! After you get passed the torture in the very beginning stages, which will seem like nothing after you get the hang of it, you will realize how wonderful it is to say that you gave your baby the best possible nutrition they could ever have; even if you don't breastfeed for an entire year it's still very very good. Oh, and! it really is a great bonding experience. :) If Marley could talk she would tell you about that I'm sure.

Okay okay, I'm all done talking about breastfeeding.. here's some pictures of Marley :)

Yeah.... so I didn't get that many good ones.. I'm still trying to master the art ofvmanual focus..

Very good post:) I wish I could have done it longer with the boys, but I always will know that all 3 of my kids were breastfed. And....if I can do it with twins, anyone can do it!!! Great job to you!!! Also, you are very right, even if it isn't for a year, or 6 months, any sort of breastfeeding is important. Especially the first days of the babies life:) Any new mom should do this, of course this is my opinion, but what a wonderful gift to give to your child!!!

Isn't it great! I can't imagine breastfeeding two babies at once! Marley was hard enough to get used to, so you are amazing Amey! :D
