Summer 2013 Updates

park-2-2
Marley starts back at Busy Day this year. It will be her last year there before she starts Kindergarten, at home. We've been working a lot on reading this summer. We have been using Hooked on Phonics the past couple of years, which has helped a lot. She (and Rory) learned all the letters and sounds from that, but now that we are getting into putting letters and sounds in words, it's just not working. She is really smart and gets the hang out things pretty fast, but she was NOT having fun with the Hooked on Phonics at all, so I got Bob Books. I love them! Marley is doing great with them, and even though right now most of it is memorization, she is still getting the hang of how you put letters and their sounds together to make a word. She is starting use the funniest phrases. She says the word "actually" about 25x per day. Last week Bobby got Marley a pair of Wal-Mart shoes (dance shoes, as she calls them) that left blisters on her feet, and when we were headed to the park the other day she asked me, "Mommy, what shoes should I wear. And don't even get me started on my dance shoes!" She cracks me up. She pretty much refuses to stay in bed all night and will come up with any excuse to come into our room. "My water's yucky," "I hit me head," "The movie is over," and without even having fallen asleep yet, my favorite is "Mommy, I had a bad dream." She will argue anything with you, even if she knows she is wrong. She just doesn't give in to anything, and is definitely very opinionated.

Rory is turning 3 next Saturday, honestly it's crazy that she isn't even 3 yet. Ha. She is so stinkin' smart. She has already started reading the Bob Books, but isn't as far along with them as Marley. Rory is a little thinker, you can randomly catch her during the day just sitting, staring off into space. It's so cute. She is getting sassy in her older age, and wants to do what she is told less and less every single day. I think she is just copying her sister though, ha. She still wears a pull up at night right now, which she pees in every single night. And she starts her first year of Busy Day, her open house is next month! I'm so excited that she gets to go with SJ. They're going to have so much fun! She just learned how to swim recently. We just took her floaties off and 20 minutes later she was swimming. She will go under the water with me and get things off the bottom of the pool. She's our little fish. SHe loves when we throw her in, and she will just swim back up to the surface. Seriously can't believe she is not even 3 yet. She says she wants a My Little Pony birthday party, but we are keeping it small so we probably won't have that many decorations. I think a pinata, a pony cake and a My Little Pony present will be just fine. Lol.

This little boy just completely changed over night. He is so so smart. He understands anything I say to him. He throws things away when I tell him to and gets me diapers for him, haha. (That's just me being lazy) Everything I ask him to do, he pretty much understands. The only thing he refuses to listen to is No and Get Down. Lol. He says both of them but refuses to actually do them. He has said a few times - catch, peek-a-boo, Daisy (we're pretty sure), hungry, cheese (when taking a picture), get down, and... gosh, just soooo many other things. He will say something a few times and then refuse to say it for you again. HE just talked to himself all day long, his cute little baby talk. His voice is the sweetest sound ever. When you ask him if he wants something he will nod his head yes. He is absolutely obsessed with balls. He loves playing catch and is pretty decent at throwing. He throws anything. He especially loves throwing everything he can get his hands on into the pool for me or someone else to go get. He has got a temper from hell. He wants what he wants when he wants it and if he doesn't get it, watch out. Or just plug your ears, haha. His scream is deafening, and he doesn't care where we are (for example the library). When he sees something that has spilled on the ground he walks up to it, bends down really close to it, and says "ewwwwwwwwwwww." I think Marley did the same thing when she was his age, it is sooooo adorable. ignore any typos, i'm too lazy to go back and re read everything to fix them..
